“There is no doubt that Luis Valls was an instrument of God”

If anything really illustrates Luis Valls’s generosity, it is the testimony of Sister Luisa María, a member of the Franciscan Clarists of Santa Clara of Assisi. In her tranquil convent, where peace and spirituality reign, the sister recalls with deep gratitude how Luis Valls became a pillar of support in times of crisis.

It all began with a desperate plea for help published in the newspaper by a couple from Alcázar de San Juan, who knew of the convent’s difficult situation. Luis Valls and his brother Pedro responded to this call with a visit. Without proclaiming their identities, they offered interest-free loans which proved crucial in saving the convent.

These funds allowed for essential renovations and the acquisition of an embroidery machine, vital for the convent’s self-sufficiency. Sister Luisa María remembers that, although the loans were repaid meticulously, not a single penny of interest was ever charged.

Luis Valls always wanted to keep his generosity anonymous, asking only that the sisters pray for him. This act of humility and his avoiding the public eye were hallmarks of his true nature.

The testimony of the Clarist sisters underscores that Luis Valls was much more than a benefactor; he was a true example of charity and humanity. His legacy, marked by discretion and altruism, continues to inspire everyone.
